I am sensitive to the systemic factors at play that create barriers for women and am passionate about empowering my clients to overcome these barriers.
As a licensed mental health counsellor and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, my journey in mental health has been shaped by a deep commitment to understanding and supporting individuals through their unique challenges.
My path began with a focus on helping those who have experienced trauma. In my role as a violence against women counsellor at Catholic Family Services of Hamilton, I had the privilege of creating a safe space for women and children to share their stories and begin the healing process. Each session was an opportunity to witness resilience as clients found their voices and learned to navigate the complexities of their lives.
Through my extensive work with women from diverse backgrounds, I gained insight into the multifaceted roles they play—whether as caregivers, professionals, or advocates for themselves and others. This understanding informs my approach, allowing me to connect deeply with my clients as they explore their experiences.
In addition to individual counselling, I have led evidence-based parenting skills workshops that promote respectful and democratic parenting. These workshops not only provide practical tools but also foster a sense of community among parents facing similar challenges. I believe that parenting is a shared journey, and I enjoy helping families strengthen their connections.
At the heart of my practice is a belief in the innate capacity for change that resides within each person. I understand that while many individuals have the strength to create positive transformations in their lives, they may encounter barriers that make this difficult. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and client-centred, focusing on identifying sources of disempowerment while also uncovering potential sources of empowerment.
In our sessions together, I strive to create a respectful and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your concerns freely. I believe that every individual's story is important, and I am dedicated to helping you rediscover your strengths and positive qualities.
